Scheduling the UK Digital TV Switchover with DIGITAL GRASP
21 May, 2007
Wheatley Associates announces a new version of its GRASP appointment booking and scheduling solution targeted at scheduling Digital TV installation engineers.
GRASP is Wheatley Associates’ internet based appointment booking, scheduling and hand held solution which is widely used across the utility and social housing sectors in the UK.
This updated version is designed for both digital contractors and housing associations, to schedule installation engineers involved in the UK digital TV switchover.
Between 2008 and 2012 the UK will cease broadcasting terrestrial analogue television signals and, region by region, will convert to broadcasting only digital television signals. Today, about 1 in 4 households can not receive digital television signals so they will need the installation of digital reception equipment. For both the social housing sector and installation contractors this switchover poses some real planning challenges as capacity and supply is stretched. These challenges are met by DIGITAL GRASP.
Maximising the effectiveness of the rollout of this technology will require installation engineers to be allocated work in the most effective way possible. DIGITAL GRASP maximises this effectiveness. It delivers an end-to-end business process, from taking a customer booking, through scheduling the most cost effective installation engineer with the correct skills and, with its integrated hand held solution, giving engineers the correct information about each job on their PDA at the customers’ premises.
Costs are minimised over the 4 years switchover period as DIGITAL GRASP is supplied as an ASP (rented) solution, without the need for any up-front hardware or software costs.
