Amethyst - Asset Management for Meter Asset Providers (MAPs)

Wheatley Associates announces its new metering asset management solution Amethyst which manages the details of all of the meters and metering equipment owned by a Meter Asset Provider (MAP).
Historically, managing metering assets was a role provided solely by Meter Operators. Wheatley Associates’ widely used MOP solution already provides this functionality. Increasingly, however, MAPs are becoming entities in their own right, or MAP functions are becoming a more significant part of the business that Meter Operators carry out. So MAPs are arranging the provision of the metering and meter installations for utility companies themselves. Amethyst is Wheatley Associates’ web based solution that addresses this growing need by providing MAPs with the software to manage their dual fuel smart metering assets, such as modems, pulsers, prepayment units and SIMMs. Also the impending impact of smart meters on the utility sector requires more precise tracking of an asset’s location and history due to the increased value of smart meters.
